Mountain Energy Project Rebates Now AvailableÂ
Xcel Energy’s Mountain Energy Project offers significantly higher rebates for heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, air sealing, insulation, and other high efficiency upgrades, in Breckenridge and surrounding Summit County, helping residents save money while reducing polluting gas use in our mountain communities. To access these rebates, contractors must be registered as a Residential Trade Partners | Trade Partners | Partner Resources | Xcel Energy. Xcel recently updated its Trade Partners webpage with clearer guidance. Contractors can scroll to the bottom of the page and open each category to see exactly what is required.Â
Heat Pump Contractor RequirementsÂ
To qualify for heat pump rebates under Xcel’s Pathway Option 3, contractors must:Â
Pass Xcel’s HVAC assessment found under the HVAC section of the Trade Partner page
Provide proof of a heat pump training completed within the last yearÂ
Updated Registration Path The old trade portal link is no longer active. Contractors should now register through: HVACRedu > Colorado > Colorado Register with their existing trade partner number. This is also where contractors complete the requited online assessment tied to HVAC and heat pump programs.Â
Mountain Energy Project rebates differ from other Xcel demand side management and clean heat rebate programs. Be sure to read the program details and rebate application for eligibility.Â

New Colorado Energy Office Rebates: HEAR and HERÂ
In addition to Xcel programs, Colorado’s new Home Energy Rebate Programs allow approved contractors to offer immediate point of sale discounts on electrification and efficiency upgrades, making projects more accessible for rural households.Â
HEAR (Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates)
Provides rebates up to $14,000 dollars per household based on income and project scope
Supports cold climate and standard heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, panel upgrades, wiring, insulation, ventilation, electric cooktops, and more
Rebates are applied instantly by participating contractors
Helps mountain and rural residents access opportunities that have previously been concentrated on the Front RangeÂ
HER (Home Efficiency Rebates)
Designed for whole home retrofits, including manufactured homes
Rebate levels vary based on projected energy savings and income
A useful option for older or hard to reach rural homesÂ
