Access Energy Rebates Through Xcel’s Mountain Energy Project

Updated: 4 days ago

Breckenridge is working toward ambitious climate goals, and improving home energy efficiency is one of the most effective ways to get there. Xcel Energy’s Mountain Energy Project offers rebates for heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, air sealing, insulation, and other high‑efficiency upgrades; helping residents save money while reducing natural gas use in our mountain communities.

To access these rebates, contractors must be registered as a Residential Trade Partners | Trade Partners | Partner Resources | Xcel Energy recently updated its trade partner webpage with clearer guidance. Contractors can scroll to the bottom of the page and open each category to see exactly what’s required.

Updated Registration Path

The old trade portal link is no longer active. Contractors should now register through:

This is where they’ll complete the online assessment tied to HVAC and heat pump programs.

Heat Pump Contractor Requirements

To qualify for heat pump rebates under Pathway Option #3, contractors must:

  • Pass Xcel’s HVAC assessment (found under the HVAC section of the trade partner page)

  • Provide proof of a heat pump training completed within the last year

Xcel recently coordinated a mountain region heat pump training, and this course counts toward the annual requirement. Sharing this flyer with local trades helps keep them eligible and supports rebate access for residents.

Why This Matters

A strong local contractor network means lower project costs for homeowners, more trade incentives for businesses, and faster progress toward Breckenridge’s climate goals.
