Xcel Doubles Down on Gas Savings Rebates

Bonus rebates offered for high-efficiency equipment to reduce natural gas use, lower bills

DENVER (June 1, 2021) – Xcel Energy today announced double rebates on high-efficiency furnaces, water heaters, insulation and air sealing for its residential gas customers in Summit County. The rebates incentivize people to upgrade to appliances that use less energy and save them money.

“These improvements will lower gas demand, help ease potential natural gas system constraints and help defer the need to increase gas capacity,” says Ann Kirkpatrick, Xcel Energy Channel Manager. “Rebates help offset the cost of new equipment. The homeowner wins with lower energy bills as well as cost savings over the life of the new equipment.”

The double rebate amounts are:

  • $100 on storage tank water heaters

  • $600 on qualifying furnaces

  • $1,900 on insulation and air sealing

Residents living in Summit County who are Xcel Energy customers and use natural gas for space heating or water heating are eligible for the rebates. Xcel Energy automatically pays the doubled rebates as long as the qualifying improvements are made by April 30, 2022 and paperwork submitted by June 30, 2022.

Before buying new equipment, residents are encouraged to work with a registered contractor to learn which appliance or measure is best for their home. They can also help fill out the paperwork to get the rebate processed quickly.

All regular rebate rules apply. Any contractor can offer the furnace or water heater rebates, but only participating contractors found at the following web site can offer the insulation and air sealing rebates: www.xcelenergy.com/cotrades.
